The "art" of eating a Maine lobster. |
|
Though eating lobster can be a bit messy at
times (hence the bibs), it is well worth the effort.
There is not right or wrong way to eat
Lobster, but the following tips quite helpful in getting at
the suculatn meat inside the shell.
|
|
1. Twist off the large claws.
|
2. Crack each claw. |
3. Separate the tail from the body by
arching the back until it cracks. |
4. Bend back and break the flipper
off the tailpiece. |

5. Insert a fork where the flippers
have been broken off and push the tail meat out in one
piece. |
6. Unhinge the back shell from the
body. The green in the body cavity is "tomalley", many
consider it the most delicious part of the lobster. |
7. Open the body by cracking it apart
sideways. Lobster meat lies in the four pockets (joints)
where the small walking legs are attached. |
8. The small walking legs also
contain excellent meat which can be removed by sucking (or
if your prefer sipping) on it like a straw. |
